Valley Performing Arts launches its 51st season this September with The Phantom Tollbooth, directed by Aaron Peatross. Based on the beloved novel by Norton Juster and adapted for the stage by Susan Nanus, this imaginative production features a talented youth-led cast that brings the magical Land of Wisdom to life through creative puppetry, theatrical effects, and plenty of adventure.

Everett Petal stars as Milo, a bored young boy who journeys through the Land of Wisdom alongside Tock the Watchdog, played by Connor Newcity. Along the way, Milo learns of the feud between King Azaz and the Mathematician, whose disagreement over words and numbers has led to the banishment of Princesses Sweet Rhyme and Pure Reason. Armed with the knowledge and confidence he gains on his adventure, Milo sets out to rescue the princesses from the Mountains of Ignorance.

Filled with humor, imagination, and timeless lessons, The Phantom Tollbooth is a fun adventure for audiences of all ages.
The show opens Sept. 4 at the VPA Theatre.

Tickets go on sale in August and will be available at vpaalaska.org or by calling 907-373-0195. The Phantom Tollbooth is sponsored by Shawesome Media and will offer an ASL-interpreted performance Sept. 19.
