One Year in the Valley: A Thank You from Iron Beauty

I really cannot believe I am writing this already, but Iron Beauty is turning one. What a year. When I opened Iron Beauty, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted. I wanted to create a place here in the Valley where people felt comfortable and could come in and actually talk, ask questions, tell me what is bothering them, and learn about their options without feeling pressured into doing something.

This year definitely hasn’t been perfect. I have learned A LOT. Some things worked exactly how I thought they would. Some things did not. I have changed my mind, changed how we do things, added services, taken things away, and learned to listen when something could be better. I want to know why something works. I want to know if there is a better way to do it. Most importantly, I want to know if it actually makes sense for the person sitting in front of me. That has probably been my favorite part of this whole year: getting to know the people who walk through our doors.

You have trusted me with your skin, your hormones, your weight-loss journey, your hair loss, your insecurities, and other things you have not really talked about with anyone else. That means a lot to me. So really, this is just my way of saying thank you. Thank you for taking a chance on a new little business in Wasilla. Thank you for coming back. Thank you for telling your friends about us. Thank you for the reviews, the shares, the messages, the feedback, and even the questions that make me go home and research something for three hours. You guys have made this first year what it was.

I still have a million ideas, probably too many. I still have things I want to bring to the Valley, things I want to learn, and things I want to make better. So, year two should be interesting.

Come celebrate our first year with us! Thursday, October 1, from 6:30–8:30pm at Iron Beauty, Wasilla.

I would really love to see you there. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for supporting Iron Beauty. Most of all, thank you for trusting me.

One year down. Let’s see what we can do with year two.
