The Gift Of The Three-legged Horse

Dec 18, 2016 | Archive

Contributed by Nan Potts

Christmas had come, as a matter of course;
Joyfully, Christmas had come.
With squeals of delight,
Mirthful sounds at the sight.
Christmas had, Christmas had come.

Rip-pity-rip flew the paper, so coarse;
Rip-pity, rip-pity-rip.
Santa’s granted her wish,
Wrappings loudly rent, swish!
Rip-pity, rip-pity-rip.

Clop-pity-rap, trots the three-legged horse;
Clop-pity, clop-pity-rap.
Head stuffed full of fluff,
Stick-body so tough.
Clop-pity, clop-pity-rap.

Clip-pity-tap, goes the three-legged horse;
Clip-pity, clip-pity-tap.
Sharp, irregular beats,
Mere persistence, repeats.
Clip-pity, clip-pity-tap.

Hip-pity-hop, bounds the four-year-old, forth;
Hip-pity, hip-pity-hop.
Over table and couch,
Stubs a toe and says, “Ouch!”
Hip-pity, hip-pity-hop.

Trip-pity-thump, stomps the rider with force;
Trip-pity, trip-pity-thump.
Her feet strike the floor,
Through the house, she just tore.
Trip-pity, trip-pity-thump.

Skip-pity-bang, charge the rider and horse;
Skip-pity, skip-pity-bang!
A new dent in the wall,
From the last major fall.
Skip-pity, skip-pity-bang!

Yip-pity-wee, shrieked the silly girl, hoarse;
Yip-pity, yip-pity-wee!
Her voice, she has lost,
Twas her gaiety’s cost.
Yip-pity, yip-pity-wee!

Clip-pity-clop, walks the three-legged horse;
Clip-pity, clip-pity-clop.
The rider doth yawn,
Much exuberance gone.
Clip-pity, clip-pity-clop.

Clip-pity-tap, halts the three-legged horse;
Clip-pity, clip-pity-tap.
With much energy spent,
Off to bed, she was sent.
Clip-pity, rap-tap-tap.

Contributed by Jim Lieb Alaska Democrats have apparently, for many years, been frustrated with their inability to get their candidates elected. Then they found out about the ranked-choice system (RCV), thanks to outside leftist groups who had figured out a way to...
