Free Hearing Screen
11/5/2016 – 10am- 1pm
Mat-Su Sertoma Club
Wasilla Physical Therapy

The Mat-Su Sertoma Club uses an audiometer for the evaluation of hearing loss, purchased with a grant from the Mat-Su Health Foundation. We offer free hearing screening the first Saturday of each month. Although we are not certified audiologists, we can provide you with a report on your current hearing status that may be used as a baseline. No appointment required just show up at Wasilla Physical Therapy on Seward Meridian in Wasilla, from 10am-1pm. The next free hearing screening is November 5th.

Noise erodes the small hair cells inside the cochlea of the human hearing organ. It is a very gradual process, and not a very noticeable one in the early stages. The damage that occurs on a daily basis is at first a temporary hearing damage. With repeated noise exposure the temporary damage turns into a permanent damage. At this stage, the damage is irreversible.

Avoid exposure to any of these sounds if they last 15 minutes or longer, or wear ear plugs if you cannot avoid them: Lawnmowers, busy freeway (car window open), live music, motorcycles, jet skis, car races, plane engines and shooting guns.
